[Beta] 🛠️ Utility builds for customers on the Pro plan are here: automate more, spend less

We’re introducing utility builds on Pro. Any build that runs on the Linux Small machine [2 vCPU] and finishes in under 5 minutes no longer counts toward your monthly build quota — you’re only charged for the infrastructure minutes it uses.

Utility builds are for the short, low-compute workflows that run all day: lint checks, unit tests, scripts, dependency audits, change detection. Move those onto Linux Small and they run without drawing down the quota you’d rather save for your full builds.

:light_bulb: Why it’s a beta

We’re rolling this out to learn how teams use it, so we can shape the long-term offering — what qualifies, what allowances look like, and how it fits into plans. The current terms are our starting point, not the final word, and may change as we learn. We’ll tell you what’s next before anything does.

:woman_judge:t4: Fair use

Utility builds are meant for genuinely lightweight workflows. Splitting larger builds into short stages to avoid quota isn’t in the spirit of the offer, and we may adjust the terms or what qualifies if we see it happening.

:guide_dog: How to use it

Set a workflow’s machine type to Linux Small. Any run that finishes under 5 minutes is automatically a utility build — no toggle, no opt-in. You can see which builds qualified on the build list and build details.
