This release is functionally equivalent to the 7.x versions.
After becoming aware that the latest 7.x
version sometimes clones an outdated state of the repository*, we quickly reverted the step to the last working state to avoid builds running on a wrong commit.
That reverted version (7.0.3) didn’t follow semantic versioning, so with this release we want to be on the safe side and mark the re-introduction of the shallow cloning features as a new major version to avoid any disruption.
