Dotnet 2.1.300

Description of the feature request

I’m using Visual Studio for Mac, installed on macOS 10.12 (Sierra), set to the Beta channel. I’m a little confused because it has a Mono version from the end of May, but the dotnet version is from January. The final dotnet 2.1 is 2.1.300. It would be awesome if it could be updated. Is it tied to the VS for Mac or are you installing it separately. I’m just wondering if I need to bug them instead of you.

Use case / for what or how I would use it

I want to use the final version of dotnet 2.1 because it works for my stuff instead of the older version.

Indeed on the Visual Studio for Mac stacks we just simply use the mono, dotnet, android ndk, … versions VS for Mac comes with. The only things we do on top of what’s installed by VS4Mac can be found here: https://github.com/bitrise-io/osx-box-bootstrap/blob/master/xamarin-playbook.yml

Pretty much just a long list of android packages we pre-install / pre-download, to help with speeding up the builds a bit, and ensuring a couple of directories’ existence.
