Custom roles: shape permissions around how your team works

Bitrise ships with built-in roles like Owner, Admin, and Developer - but not every organization wants access in the same way. Now you can build your own roles, scoped exactly where you need them, and assign them like any other role.

:office_building: Custom roles are available on Enterprise Plans* (UI Only, API Access Coming Soon)

:gear:How it works

  • Within the Bitrise app and your workspace, go to Workspace settings → Collaboration → Roles and select Create role.
  • Name the role and add a description, pick a scope (workspace or Bitrise CI), then choose its permissions.
  • Assign it to anyone on your team. Unlike system roles, custom roles can be edited or removed at any time.

In your workspace

A custom role, like this Payment Manager example, live right alongside Bitrise’s built-in system roles: tagged as Custom type, and editable or removable at any time.

:construction: What’s available today

The UI is live today, for every Enterprise workspace. API support for creating, updating, and assigning roles programmatically is next, and we’ll post an update here the moment it ships.

*MCP and CLI access are also out of scope for managing custom roles in this release. Only the web app (UI) is currently supported, with REST API support to follow.
